FAA Commercial Pilot (Aircraft)

Course Overview

Aviakul Aviation Academy in partnership with the Voyager Aviation International is providing an excellent opportunity for aspiring Pilot Candidates to take up FAA’s Commercial Pilot License program at the Merritt Island Airport base at the vicinity of Kennedy Space Centre, Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Code of Federal Aviation Regulations 14 CFR Part 61.127(b)(1) details the areas of operation in which training must be received for the issue of a Commercial Pilot Certificate – Airplane Category, and 14 CFR Part 61.129(a) details the minimum training requirements for the issue of a certificate.

In practice, a pilot who completed a private certificate in 60 hours would have 50 hours of dual instruction and 10 hours of solo/PIC time logged. They would need to complete a further 190 hours of flight time to meet the 250 hour minimum requirement, and the 20 hours of dual instruction on the course can be included within this flight time. Most pilots also include the instrument rating (IR) during their hour building phase to gain the most from the flight time.

The course is based on this typical scenario, and those students who have more time logged need only complete the flight time required to meet the minimums for both PIC time and total flight time.
